PURPOSE:To prevent carrier from being scattered by electrostatically charging a photosensitive drum to have a negative polarity at the time of transfer and removing negative charge left after cleaning. CONSTITUTION:When the photosensitive drum 12 is rotated other than copying time, the surface of the photosensitive drum 12 is electrostatically charged to have the negative polarity by a transfer corotron 22, and the negative charge left on the drum 12 is removed by an all erasing lamp 28 after the stage of cleaning using a fur brush 26a. Positive charge is applied to the surface of the drum 12 by triboelectrification with the fur brush 26a but the surface of the drum 12, after all is not electrostatically charged to have the positive polarity because the absolute value of the positive charge is smaller than the absolute value of the negative charge applied by the transfer corotron 22. Therefore, the carrier is prevented from being scattered. |
