PURPOSE:To provide the optical switch which has small loss over a relatively wide wavelength range, small variation in the loss, and simple and high-precision structure. CONSTITUTION:When a switch element 3 is moved from a stationary position to a switching position or vice versa while a switch element 3 is fixed, a specific optical fiber 5a of an optical fiber array 5 fixed to the switch element 2 and a specific optical fiber 5a of an optical fiber array 5 fixed to the switch element 3 come close and face each other. In this case, reflection preventive films formed on end surfaces of the optical fiber arrays 5 and 5 on the sides of the switch elements 2 and 3 differ in wavelength dependence of reflectivity. Consequently, when light is transmitted between the specific fibers 5a and 5a of both the optical fiber arrays 5 and 5, relatively high transmission characteristics are realized in a relatively wide wavelength band including the transmission wavelength bands of both the reflection preventive films and variation in the transmission characteristics in this relatively wide wavelength band is suppressed at the same time. |
