The seat for a motor vehicle according to the invention includes a three-point seat belt (safety belt), the anchoring points of which are fixed to the seat. The seat cushion (1) of the seat is laid out so that it can move in a horizontal plane and has stop pieces (1b) connected fixedly to the edge of the upper movable part (1a) and which extend as far as under the edges of the lower part. These stop pieces (1b) are set out so that they can move at the same time as the upper part (1a) under the edge of the lower part with clearance which allows the movement and so as to abut against the edge of the lower part when the upper movable part (1a) is inclined with respect to the lower part. <IMAGE>
