The method according to the invention consists in making incisions (34) on at least one of the faces of the strip of wood (2), for the purpose of cutting out at least some of the plant fibres. It is thus possible to avoid or greatly to limit the deformation of the strip over time while it is being seasoned (dried). The incisions (34) are preferably carried out substantially perpendicularly to the fibres of the wood and they are located in parallel lines in a staggered configuration from one line to the next. This method may be employed for the treatment of peeled strips of wood intended for producing packaging of the small tote box (crate) type or for the production of plies for plywood, for example. <IMAGE>
