The wheel fixture for a spindle clamps the tool and holder to the spindle using a flat endface to the spindle and a flat face on the support radial to the rotation axis. A ball (16) fixed to the tool support (6) on the rotation axis (3) or a coaxial bushing (5) on the spindle (1) end face should be flexibly deformed to press the ball into the bushing. In this condition the flat support face (10) bears on the flat endface (2) of the spindle. Pref. the ID of the bushing (5) is 2-5 micron smaller than the ball dia. USE/ADVANTAGE - Grinding machine. Ball and bushing on tool support and spindle form a reproducible sub-micron accuracy fixture.
