A fire-protection valve having a reproducible tight seat is to be developed, so that even when the spring loses its force because of very high temperatures, the valve remains closed even under shocks or concussions. To solve this problem, the metallic closure body (11) has a spherical shape at least in the sealing area and its diameter forms a slight tight fit with the diameter of the bore (21) shaped in the housing (1) of the valve, when the valve is closed. A second bore (20) that extends in the axial direction of the first bore (21) is arranged upstream thereof, in the direction of the closure body (11) in the open position of the valve. The diameter of the second bore (20) forms a loose fit with the diameter of the closure body (11). A guide (19) that tapers in the direction of the closure body (11) in its open position is located between the closure body and the second bore (20). A fire-protection valve is disclosed with a shutting spring for automatically shutting off conduits, in particular gas conduits, such as those that are mounted upstream of gas fittings.
