Superconductive magnet with superconductive coil - held in circular container on diametrically extending carrier interrupting eddy current

The bearer element (7) incorporates an electrical insulator (7) of glass fibre-reinforced plastics material, aluminium oxide and/or carbon fibre-reinforced plastics material. The container (2) holds a superconductive coil (1) on a bearer element (3) running diametrically inside the coil container. The insulator (7) in the bearer element interrupts the eddy current which would flow through the closed loop incorporating the coil container (2). The insulator is of fluorine resin and is suitable for low temps. Radiation heat screening (4), with the exception of a part which encloses the bearer element, is of stainless steel, Inconel (RTM) or aluminium. USE/ADVANTAGE - Heat prodn. in container for superconductive coil is so minimised that quenching phenomenon of magnet can hardly occur under dynamic conditions.
