The bottom of articles is coated with liq. coating (9), partic chocolate, by an arrangement of mesh belt (1), for the articles (3) and coating roll (11) underneath it. The roll is positioned away from the belt and is driven to rotate against the direction of belt movement. Scraper (23) is provided and the speed of the roll is variable to adjust coating thickness. ADVANTAGE - Increased reliability, partic. when article or coating contains particles.
