Polypropylene fibre for reinforcing cement is a highly crystalline drawn thread having a breakage strength of at least 6 gram per denier, a wt.-average mol. wt. to number-average mol. wt. ratio of less than 5, an insoluble content of boiling n-heptane greater than 97 wt.% but less than 100 wt.%, and an isotactic pentad fraction greater than 94 wt.% but less than 100 wt.%, and having 0.05-10 wt.% of a hydrophilising agent on its surface, made insoluble by reacting it with calcium ions. The hydrophilising agent is pref. an alkylphosphate alkaline metal salt with 8 to 18 carbon atoms. |
