<p>A postforming machine for forming a laminate about the profiled edge of a core comprises a heater unit (2) mounted on a pivotal frame (5) and a resilient sheet (3) mounted on a frame (13). A laminate is bonded to a flat surface of a core with a portion overlapping the core edge. The core is then mounted on the open front vertical face of the machine with the laminate between the front face and the core and the overlap extending upwardly. The heater (2) is pivoted to face the overlap, and heats the overlap to a set temperature. The heater (2) is then pivoted back, and the sheet (3) pivoted through positions A-D. At A, the sheet (3) is untensioned, and, at B, tensioned and contacting the overlap. By moving through positions C and D, the sheet (3) urges the overlap against the core edge and forms it thereto.</p> |
