<p>Method and apparatus (10) for drilling a hole along a predetermined path, including vertical or horizontal, or transitioning from one to the other, under bore hole pressures at the surface greater than atmospheric; water can be used rather than special drilling gravity fluids, which is less expensive and facilitates site cleanup after the well is completed. The method utilizes coiled tubing (54) which is not rotated and which can then be used in the completed well for production. Hydrocarbon produced during the drilling process can be recovered. The system (10) includes a downhole motor (140) and bit (144) which can be steered by commands from the surface without significantly interrupting the drilling operation.</p> |
