Liq. mixt. contains (a) 20-80 vols.% of an alcohol, (b) 10-70% of a glycol ether, and (c) 0-30% of deionised water. Pref. (a) the component is butanol, mainly n-butanol. (b) The component is glycol monoether, esp. monoisopropyl ether, and partic. ethylene glycol monoisopropyl ether. The compsn. contains 50-70 vols.% of n-butanol, the rest being ethylene glycol monoisopropyl ether, or 40-60% of n-butanol, 30-50% of ethylene glycol monoisopropyl ether, and 5-15% of deionised water. ADVANTAGE - The compsn. has good cleaning effect, is environmentally-friendly, is safe, is not corrosive and need not be stored in stainless steel containers, is sufficiently cheap, has flash point above room temp. (above 40 deg.C), and can be recovered and reused or easily disposed of. Residues of solder are removed, and mail, military and space requirements are fulfilled.
