Binding machine for arranging a ribbon-like (tape-like, belt-like) binding strip 6 around objects A which are to be wrapped. The binding strip 6 is unwound from a reel 5 with the aid of a binding arm 3. The binding machine is equipped with means 9 for pulling the binding strip 6 taut in the ribbon rewinding direction when the binding arm 3 moves downwards, the rewound ribbon strip section being wound onto the reel 5 in order to avoid the formation of loops which, especially where adhesive tape is used, may lead to the adhesive tape becoming jammed in the guide means 7. <IMAGE>
