<p>A personal portable computer of a laptop or a notebook type, which can be driven by a battery and has a CPU (11), a clock oscillator (12) for feeding a clock to the CPU (11). To switch over the clock of the CPU (11) in the state the operation of the CPU (11) is ensured, the feed of a clock (CLK) is stopped in the state of the CPU (11) being reset, and thereby, the CPU (11) is set in a sleep mode. In the sleep mode, the consumption current of the CPU (11) is reduced largely because the clock (CLK) is stopped. When the CPU (11) is reset, the contents of the registers of the CPU (11) are saved. When the feed of the clock (CLK) is restarted and the reset signal is changed from an active state to an inactive one, the contents of the registers, which have been saved, are restored.</p> |
