An implantable device (10) of porous material has a primary lumen (12) for defining, when implanted, a fluid flow passage, and at least one secondary lumen (12'). The device may contain bioactive material, e.g., a therapeutic or diagnostic agent, in a secondary lumen (12') for sustained release of the material into a fluid flow pathway of a patient. A secondary lumen (12') may substantially surround the primary lumen (12) and be filled with a resealable elastomer, allowing repeated puncture of the prosthesis without leakage. One or more secondary lumena (12') may extend parallel to the primary lumen (12) and contain marker material that is remotely detectable to indicate patency of the primary lumen. A plurality of the lumena may serve as parallel, separate flow passages so the device operates as a multi-capillary body. The device may be formed so that one or more of the lumena are releasably separable from the others, at least along a part of their longitudinal extent.
|
