Quinoxaline compounds represented by formulas (I) or (II), wherein R?1 and R2¿ are independently hydrogen, C¿1-6?-alkyl, halogen, NO2, NH2, CN, CF3, SO2NR?4R5¿ wherein R?4 and R5¿ are independently hydrogen or C¿1-6?-alkyl, or COR?6¿ wherein R6 is C¿1-6?-alkyl; and R?3¿ is hydrogen, C¿1-6?-alkyl or CF3, compositions thereof and methods of preparing the compounds are described. The compounds are useful in the treatment of indications caused by hyperactivity of the excitatory neurotransmitters.
