<p>A process is described for the defatting of animal wastes of the most diverse type, in which these are fed, following appropriate homogenisation of the mass resulting in the steriliser, directly to a sedimentation vessel, in which a fat layer is maintained as a buffer or filter of not inconsiderable thickness, through which at least some of the sterilised material is passed from above into or through the sedimentation vessel. In this case, apparatus components which are susceptible to faults are completely dispensed with and even in one or a few sedimentation stages, a high degree of defatting of the sedimented protein mass is achieved.</p> |
