The form frame is used for mass production of railway sleepers, and is based on a stiff frame (2,3). Prestressing is introduced through cables (6) through the form. Within this rigid framework, the formwork for the required size of sleeper is introduced. The stiff framework takes the loading of the tensioning and inner form has only to be sufficiently stiff to withstand the concrete vibration and handling. USE/ADVANTAGE - A variety of concrete railway sleeper sizes can be economically produced in comparatively small runs.
