The method for preliminary removal of solvents from crude nitrocellulose powder carried out with the use of nitrogen circulation, consisting in that the layer of powder in a container is gas-stirred with nitrogen wetted in a heater at the temperature 28-32 degrees C in quantities of 0.1-0.4 m3 per hour per one kilogram of powder, while the condensate collected in a cooler is distilled in a distillation cup while boiling ether gives up the heat in the cooler and heats up nitrogen transported from the cooler to the container.
