<p>A translucent laminate (2) having impact resistance including two translucent panes (4, 6) bonded to a translucent interlayer (8), said interlayer being formed from a cured epoxy resin and at least one additive which is adapted to react with, and/or form a separate phase in, the epoxy resin thereby to reduce the brittleness of the resin interlayer. The additive may be a reactive diluent which is adapted to react with the epoxy resin as a cross-linking agent thereby to plasticise the epoxy resin such as a di- or polyepoxy compound. Alternatively the additive may comprise a liquid rubber which is adapted to form a two phase microstructure with the epoxy resin to toughen the epoxy resin. Additionally the interlayer may comprise a boron compound which is not a curing agent for the epoxy resin and is adapted to impart fire resistance to the interlayer. <IMAGE></p> |
