1. The method for positional machine-tool carriage control, especially of a cut-off machine, consisting in that a series of pulses generated by a rotary pulse converter is applied to create a digital position register for the current machine-tool carriage position, whereas the set value of the digital position register of the target carriage position is subtracted from the current position, thus resulting in an underflow that represents a distance by which the carriage has to be moved to reach the target position, and at the same time the drive unit is controlled in relation to that underflow that alters the speed of the carriage movement, whereas in the final travel phase, the carriage drive unit is switched-off in advance to compensate for the carriage intertial run.<IMAGE>
