DEFROST METHOD FOR EVAPORATOR OF REFRIGERATION DEVICE

A method is disclosed to vary the time between defrost operations to ensure acceptable frost build-up in a refrigeration device before initiating a defrost operation. The time period of a defrost operation is measured. If the measured time is below an acceptable range, the value for the time before the next defrost operation is increased over its previous value. If the measured time is within the acceptable range, the value remains the same. If the measured time is beyond the acceptable range, but less than a reset trigger time, the value is decreased. If the measured time is greater than the reset trigger time, the value is set to a known reset time.
