PURPOSE:To obtain a new antitumor antibiotic SF2,738 substance useful as a carcinostatic agent and its salt. CONSTITUTION:An antitumor substance SF2,7838 substance of the formula or its salt. The compound is obtained by culturing a bacterium such as Streptomyces sp. SF2,738 strain (FERM P-12,494) belonging to the genus Streptomyces, capable of producing antibiotic SF2,738 substance, in a medium containing nutritive substances usable for common bacteria and isolating the antibiotic SF2,738 substance from the culture mixture by solvent extraction method or silica gel chromatography method. The compound can be orally or parenterally administered as an active ingredient of a carcinostatic agent and its daily dose is preferably 5-100mg based on 1kg body weight of mammal including human. |
