COMPOSITE FORMING ADSORBENT AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To provide an active carbon-alumina hydrate composite forming adsorb ent and the production method having a combined function excellent in adsorptivity and desorptivity of an organic compound particularly a low b.p. gaseous fuel. CONSTITUTION:The adsorbent consists of a forming body of a uniformly mixed material of powdery active carbon of 30-80wt.% having <13Angstrom av. narrow pore radius and psuedoboehmite type alumina hydrate of 20-70wt.% and the forming body has larger specific surface area in the BET specific surface area than 900m<2>/g and has >=10Angstrom and <13Angstrom av. narrow pore radius. Then, the active carbon-alumina hydrate composite forming adsorbent excellent in adsorptivity of a low b.p. component such as 3C, 4C contained in a gaseous fuel such as gasoline or methanol and having improved combination of saturated adsorbing quantity and effective desorptivity and remarkable resistance to deterioration of adsorptivity and desorptivity for a long time use is provided.
