485,673. Ramps for bridging obstacles in roads. BAINBRIDGE. G. A. July 10, 1937, No. 32874/36. [Class 107] A ramp, for protecting a hose pipe 5 or the like extending across a road, comprises a member 3 having an inverted channel-portion 4 for bridging the pipe and two oppositely inclined portions 6 of less width than the portion 4. A number of these members may be arranged end to end to provide a ramp of increased width. In the form shown, the members are interconnected by tie-rods 9 provided, at their centres, with universal joints 12 to allow for any camber on the road surface. The inner members abut against stops 11 formed on the tie-rods and the sections are held in position by means of nuts screwed to the outer ends of the tie-rods. The outer end sections have lugs 13 adapted to receive the lower forked ends of posts 14 which carry warning signs or lamps. The tie-rods 9 may be dispensed with and the members 3 so formed as to interlock or, alternatively, they may be simply placed side by side.
|
