A wheel for advancement of elongated objects such as, for example, tree trunks in logging machinery comprises two circular side pieces 2 and a chain netting 3 mounted between the periphery of the said side pieces and containing chain links coupled together at junction points 5. The chain links can form chain strands 6,7 which cross each other at the junction points 5. The chain netting 3 follows a surface of rotation about the axle of the wheel 1, the said axle having a concave profile 14. The anchoring points 4,21 of the netting can be axially pliable. The netting 3 adapts smoothly to irregularities on the advanced object in the course of effective advancement of the object, without this suffering any damage. <IMAGE> |
