PURPOSE:To provide a lithium secondary battery having high discharge operating voltage and a good charge and discharge cycle characteristic. CONSTITUTION:In a lithium secondary battery in which lithium, lithium alloy, and/or a compound storing and releasing lithium are employed as negative electrode active material and an organic electrolyte containing lithium salts is employed as electrolyte, a crystalline compound is employed as positive electrode active material which is obtained by the mixing together and baking of a lithium compound, a cobalt compound and a vanadium compound in such a way that when the mole ratios of the lithium compound, the cobalt compound and the vanadium compound are respectively (x), (y), and (z), (x) = 0 to 1.1, (y) = 0.12 to 0.98, and (z)=1-(y). |
