摘要 PURPOSE:To provide an optical nonlinear polymer material having low refractive index which matches in the refractive index with a quartz optical fiber or waveguide. CONSTITUTION:This optical nonlinear polymer material having low refractive index is such an optical nonlinear polymer material in which org. matters having a nonlinear optical effect couple with the main chain of the polymer and the structural unit of the polymer chain contains fluorine. As for the base structure of the polymer chain, fluorinated polyurethane, polyimide, polyester, polyamide, and polycarbonate are effective. As for the matter to show the optical nonlinearity, polyazo type pi conjugated system or bisimine dyes are used. In this structure, 10<-4> sec, and the obtd. material has a high incident rate of light and small absorption loss. Thereby, waveguides can be economically formed by using the cheap source material and polymer microprocessing technique.
