PURPOSE:To recognize the card of the whole system by using slot No. with the master card of a local bus and identifying the card classification and its position of respective local cards. CONSTITUTION:A monitoring card 11 assigns slot No. through a system bus 1 to a master card 12. Next, the master card 12 assigns respectively slot Nos. 2-4 through a local bus 2 to respective local cards 13A-13C. Respective cards read and recognize the own slot Nos. Even when the reading of the slot No. may be performed by a reading circuit or may be performed by software. The master card 12 inquires the card classification corresponding to respective slot Nos. 2-4 through the local bus 2, and thus, the master card 12 can identify the card classification and its position of the local cards 13A-13C connected to the local bus 2.
