PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a printing result without being affected by the dispersion of printing density due to the dispersion of the drum sensitivity of a photosensitive drum by detecting the drum sensitivity of the photosensitive drum and correcting the pulse width of a recording signal according to the drum sensitivity. CONSTITUTION:A video signal VIDEO 11 transmitted from a bit map extension part 10 is received by a picture processing part 20, a smoothing processing is performed for the signal and the signal is transmitted as a printing signal VD015 to a printer engine 200. In the printer engine 200, a drum sensitivity detection part 201 detecting the drum sensitivity of a photo-sensitive drum exists. A drum sensitivity detection signal 202 outputted in this detection part changes the light quantity setting value of laser by being transmitted to a CPU within the printer engine 200 and is inputted in a pulse width correction circuit by being transmitted to a smoothing part 18 within a picture processing part 20. An excellent smoothing effect is obtained by correcting the pulse width of the printing signal VDO15 according to the drum sensitivity and by changing the printing area of a small picture element in a contour part. |
