A combination circuit (13) having a first analog switch (1), a buffer (2), first and second comparators (3,4) and a second analog switch (5) carries out the white control and balancing by combining R,G,B input signals, while a logic matrix selects the control mode. A microcomputer (10) controls the white level and the balancing by a signal generated by the combination circuit. The method includes a memory process for storing the white balance value from the balancing control in an address, with the address indicated according to a value of the photographed object and an optical filter, and a generating process for releasing the controlled white balance value, as stored during the memory input process.
