Optical transmission system in which are associated a first information transport medium (F1) having a first dispersion coefficient, a second compensation medium (F2) having a second dispersion coefficient of opposite sign to the first dispersion coefficient. According to one preferred embodiment of the invention, the transmission media are optical fibres. Applications: optical transmission.
