PURPOSE:To implement optimum signal processing in response to sound volume setting by selecting adaptively an input output characteristic in response to the set sound volume of a sound volume regulation section with respect to the signal processing circuit which applies a prescribed signal processing in response to a signal level of the input signal such as compressor, limiter and expander in the audio equipment. CONSTITUTION:The signal processing circuit controlling variably an amplification factor of a variable gain amplifier section 1 in response to a signal level of an input signal detected by an input signal level detection section 3 is provided with a gain calculation section 4 having plural input output characteristic tables 41,42 corresponding to a sound volume set level of a sound volume regulation section 6 of the audio equipment and with a table selection section 5 selecting the correspondent input output characteristic table in the gain calculation section in response to the set sound volume of the sound volume regulation section of the audio equipment.
