PURPOSE:To promptly, accurately and efficiently remove at the stage of production those batteries which may cause self-discharge. CONSTITUTION:Lithium-transition metal composite oxides which can extract lithium ions from a positive electrode and dope the positive electrode with lithium ions are used as active material. A carbonaceous material which can dope a negative electrode with lithium ions and extract lithium ions from the negative electrode is used as active material. The electrodes comprising the respective active materials applied to metallic foil current collectors are disposed opposite each other via a separator made of polyorefine synthetic resin films. Electrode bodies wherein current flowing therethrough at the application of a voltage of more than 100V between the positive and negative electrodes is not more than 100muA are used as component elements. Almost no defective articles regarding self-discharge are involved. No defective batteries regarding self-discharge are involved, even afer 100-cycle use, in those selected by means of application of a voltage of 500V. |
