PURPOSE:To reduce the dependency of a toner on environment by treating fine silica particles with a silane coupling agent contg. a substituent having large volume bonded to an Si atom and then treating them with a specified silane coupling agent. CONSTITUTION:Fine silica particles are treated with a silane coupling agent contg. one or more substituents having large volume bonded to an Si atom. The substituents having large volume are optionally substd. sec. alkyl, optionally substd. tert. alkyl and optionally substd. cyclic hydrocarbon. The particles are then treated with a silane coupling agent contg. only substituents having small volume bonded to an Si atom and represented by the formula (where R1 is methyl, halomethyl, satd. straight chain hydrocarbon or unsatd. straight chain hydrocarbon, Y is alkoxyl or halogen, each of m and n is an integer of 1-3 and m+n=4). |
