The boring machine includes a mounting frame (10) on which a forward-movement carriage (12) slides, which carriage includes a rotary drive unit (13) for turning the boring rod (14). The device for driving the forward-movement carriage (12) is mounted on this carriage. It includes at least one pinion (18) which is driven by its own motor and which interacts with a rack (20).
