A protective cap for a bottle-shaped container made of injection moulded plastic with a male thread on its neck engages the latter by its female thread. The originality security ring has on its upper end a larger diameter than the cap at its bottom end. Tear-off ribs are arranged between ring and cap. The bottom edge of the cap runs up on a shoulder of the container, with a conical run-up surface to which an elastic sealing ring is fitted. The triangular detents snap into recesses and lock the protective cap.
