The method is for the heating of a liquid, esp. an oil-containing fluid, using a hot gas, by indirect heat exchange. The hot gas is at temperatures of 300 deg. - 1200 deg.C, and is passed through tubes of a heat exchanger. The liquid flows around the outside of the tubes. The hot gas may be helium. The heat exchanger consists of a housing, with a gas-containing central tube. Numerous gas-containing tubes extend from this, and open into a collection chamber. The housing has one removable section. ADVANTAGE -Easy removal of encrustations.
