Deforming element for automobiles

Along the longitudinal axis of a hollow beam (1) is a tubular deforming member (2) of smaller diameter. The front face of this member (2) is supported on the beam face by a collar. The hollow beam (1) also has on its front face a collar, the two collars being joined together. Under the action of a force the element is shorted by returning the deforming member (2) towards the inside of the beam (1). The deforming member reduces conically as the distance from the hollow beam increases. The beam is supported in the deformed state by a fold (9) on the deforming member (2).
