In a system of loading layers of cartons 2 into a roll container 1, a first loading table 8 is brought to a receiving position in the container 1 at about the level of a lowermost horizontal member 5 such as a rod at the rear side of the container 1, a second loading table 9 is brought to a delivery position outside the container 1 at that rear side and at about the level of that rod 5, and a thin sheet metal bridge 10 pivotally mounted upon the front edge of the table 9 is swung down into a horizontal, bridging position over the rod 5 to enable a vertical pusher plate (not shown) to advance a layer of cartons 2 smoothly from the table 9 onto the table 8, which then lowers the layer to a base 7 of the container and withdraws while depositing it on the base 7. Subsequently, the tables 8 and 9 and the bridge 10 are raised to the level of the next rod 5 and the process repeated to load the next layer of cartons 2 onto the layer already loaded onto the base 7. <IMAGE> |
