Prodn. of glycerol acrylate versatate carboxyalkanoate esters of formula (I) is effected by reacting a glycerol acrylate versatate ester of formula (II) with an equimolar amt. of a satd. or monoolefinically unsatd. cyclic dicarboxylic anhydride (III) having 4-5 atoms and n O atom in the ring, the reaction being effected at 50-150 deg.C in the presence of an esterification catalyst: In (I)-(II) R=versatyl; one of R1 and R2 is H and the other is COCH=CH2; one of R3 and R4 is COR'COOH and the other is COCH=CH2; R'=4-5C linear alkylene opt. substd. by alkyl gps., N.B., the definition of R' is not in accord with the definition of cpd. (III) or with the exemplified cpds. succinic and maleic anhydride.
