A machine to bond edge strips to the periphery of worktops and other plate-shaped pieces of furniture has a carriage, movable in the X-direction on which a saddle carrying a thrust roller can move in the Y-direction. Two reels contain coils of tape with a hot curing adhesive which can be applied by the thrust roll to the edges after a jet of hot air has activated the adhesive. Specifically, a carriage can be moved in the X-direction along a guide and a saddle is movable on it in the Y-direction. It carries a thrust roller, two reels of adhesive tape, a mechanism with rollers to turn the tapes through 90 deg. and hot air nozzles. The saddle moves in a horizontal plane above the conveyor or worktable on which the worktop lies. The side opposite to the bonding station carries a milling mechanism which is operated by the same NC-control.
