Appts. comprises a machine base (10) supporting a work top (10) with several cross-supports (16,18) made of hollow section with gas openings (20) arranged along their length and at one end connected to a gas collection channel (24). The gas openings are pref. arranged on the two undersides of a prismatic profile whose edge (26) points upwards. The ends of each profile in contact with the collection channel (24) are fitted with a valve to selectively suck the gases from areas near the mobile cutting laser head (14). USE/ADVANTAGE - The cost of removing gas generated during cutting is reduced with minimal suction power.
