An arrangement for sealing the gap between two concentric machine sections, includes a soft elastic sealing ring made of a plastic and located in the groove in the first machine section, and a tensioning ring located between the seal and the base of the groove. The sealing ring has a slot in it so that it can accommodate the tensioning ring. A radial bore connects the area between the sealing edges and the base of the groove.
