Drying machine to continuously handle delicate knitted folded fabric - comprises stillage in lap form feeding fabric to lattice through guide- and controllable lifting rollers w.r.t. height of pile, avoiding shape distortion

The fabric is to be fed into the machine on carrying lattice through guide and lifting rollers. The lifting motion is controllable, and set w.r.t. the height of the pile of folded fabric, while holding at the pref. width. Pref. the fabric is brought to the machine on a type of stillage in lap form and is fed upwards in the direction on to the lattice which is held rigidly on the stand. As the fabric is taken from the stillage, the guide rollers are held at the correct distance to start unfolding without increasing the lift, by moving the frame by a helical spindle which is driven by the motor, through the advance gear. This enables the frame to be set in a pref. position in the direction, to the specified extent. The motor may be driven stepwise, or with a steady advance. The drive is positioned at each side of the frame. Alternatively the movement may be by pneumatics. In the frame there are guide rollers, which have appts. provided to ensure the fabric is held at the correct width. This has opto-electic appts. in the controllers to ensure the fabric travels along the middle of the rollers regardless of width. Also there are rotating brushes to hold the fabric to the guide roller. Further guide rollers on the inside of the stand ensure the fabric takes the shortest path on to the lattice. The lifting motion of the frame may be automatically controlled by a sensor and the lifting gear. USE - Feeding material into a drying machine avoids stretching out of shape due to handling inappropriately.
