The method is for the improvement of the characteristics of foundation soil, by forming pillars of various types. A depth vibrator is put into the ground, drawn upwards in stages, while adding gravel, suspensions, mortar, etc, and then moved downwards vibrating, in compacting intervals. The volume of added material is regulated relative to drawing process and duration of compacting intervals, dependant upon consistency resp. density of the ground layers concerned. The volume is determined by a height indicator, or a net weight device on the tank of the vibrator.
