A parquet panel has a base body, a wooden sheet secured to the base body and a melamine-based layer polymerised directly onto the wooden sheet to form a wear-resistant operating surface. The melamine-based layer is applied by dipping or immersing the wooden sheet in a melamine bath until it is completely soaked before being allowed to dry whereby the melamine polymerizes not only on the surface of the sheet but also within the pores of the wood. The sheet is pressed before being joined to the base body. The resulting panel is extremely hard-wearing and its appearance can be restored simply by polishing. <IMAGE> |
