<p>Bacterial growth testing apparatus comprises at least one heat conducting block (10) with through-holes (12) for plural test cells (50), respectively. Controlled heating provision (14, 16), assures test cells (50) surrounded by material of said block (10) are maintained at a suitable temperature. Each test cell (50) is generally tubular and extends from releasable electrical connectors (52, 60) at one block face to protrude from the other block face with plural closures (70) for said cells (50) applied thereto for automatic pressure relief. Electronic monitoring and display means (150-154) processes signals according to electrical current applied to electrodes (54) as the cells (50) and as affected by bacterial activity in content of said cells (50). The monitoring and display means (150-154) is capable of servicing said one and other similar blocks (10) and associated test cells (50) on a modular extension basis for connections (160, 162) therebetween.</p> |
