A mobile machine for turning over heaps of organic waste maturing in stationary storage spaces to give compost has a steerable chassis for advancing the machine through a heap and is provided with a device for mixing the waste picked up on passing through and intermixed behind the machine and put down again. A clearing device is arranged on the front of the machine in the area of each running track of the chassis. Each clearing device has a guiding shield placed at the side in front of the inlet of the mixing device, the guiding surface of which is equipped with actively working clearing tools.
