The invention relates to a pincer grab excavator making it possible to dig trenches in the immediate vicinity of pre-existing obstacles, of the type in which the grab is provided at its upper part with a square rod which engages in a guiding component of corresponding shape suspended from the upper part of a lifting machine, while being able to pivot about a vertical axis, winders intended to receive the hydraulic hoses for controlling the grab being fitted to the guiding component. The winders (7) are offset laterally towards the lifting machine (1) and the upper part (6) of the guiding component (4) is supported by the lifting machine (1) at a point which is offset with respect to the vertical axis of the guiding component (4), so as to compensate for the tilting moment resulting from the offset of the winders and to keep the axis of the guiding component in a substantially vertical position. <IMAGE>
